Engaging employees on their learning journey

CHALLENGE

Gilead Sciences want to encourage employees to explore Microsoft Copilot. However, with learners at very different starting points, the challenge was to design a program that captured everyone’s curiosity and kept them engaged across the journey.

SOLUTION

At the heart of the program is a large illustration of a fictional map, guiding employees through the five learning milestones that cater to all levels of Copilot experience. Each milestone represents a key stage of the journey: from first discovery to confident adoption. The map is interactive – every employee enrolled in the training move their name tag on the map – according to their progress. It’s a playful encouragement to progress and helps facilitators and peers to gage where everyone is in the learning journey. Additionally, completing each step earns participants a sticker badge.

The gamified approach transformed what could have been a routine training program into a social, engaging experience. Teams encouraged each other, celebrated progress, and shared tips along the trail.

OUTCOMES

Participation rates were significantly higher than usual training initiatives.

Employees were motivated to move their name tag and earn the next badge, maintaining momentum across the campaign.

The experience fosters team spirit and conversations by turning learning into a collaborative, campfire-style adventure.
